Believed dead as a result of creation the spell that caused the Changing by the hands of his father, Adelai. Adelai believed he could copy the essence of his son's soul into the spell to give it the ability to make decisions when the time was right but instead bound his actual son to the spell. Will, a talented spell caster knew this would happen but willingly accepted it realizing it would be necessary to make his father's dream of peace possible.

As his final action he left two notes, one to his father that stated “I love you but this is the way it must be” and one cryptic one to Princess Eilonwy, Fairy Mother who had been like a mother to him for many years.

After this his father was never the same, having lost his wife in the war and killing his own son in an attempt to end the war. He disappeared shortly afterwards and was never heard from again. Eilonwy, who had taken part in the casting of the spell at the behest of Adelai, could not bear the grief of losing not only Will, but Adelai as well when he disappeared. She was never able to forgive herself for her own role in the events and instead accepted the role of fairy mother and secluded herself away from the world.

Recent event have shown that the spell may have been more successful then ever could have been imagined and that Will may in fact be alive and well, his soul bound to the very spell that caused the Change.
